Using a variational approach, an exact analytical
expression is derived for the variance of the timing jitter of a
dispersion-managed soliton in the presence of lumped narrow-band
filters. The asymptotic timing jitter shows a linear dependence
with distance, which is in contrast with the cubic dependence in
the unfiltered case. We show that the suppression of the timing
can be achieved by choosing conveniently the position and the
strength of the optical filter.
