Abstract

A small slot‐loaded elliptical antenna with a band‐notched for ultra wide‐band (UWB) applications is presented in this article. Printed on a dielectric substrate with relative permittivity of 4.4, thickness of 1 mm, and fed by a 50 Ω microstrip line, the proposed antenna satisfies the UWB bandwidth requirement of 3.1–10.6 GHz. A slot is used to reject the frequency band (5.15–5.825 GHz) limited by IEEE802.11a. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract In this paper, a weathercock‐shaped microstrip patch antenna for application in a Hiper‐LAN is designed and fabricated. To obtain sufficient bandwidth when VSWR < 2, the T‐slot is inserted in the patch and a coaxial‐probe source is used. The measured result of the fabricated antenna is
