โœฆ Synopsis

Calculations of the resonance Raman excitation profiles for the v, band and its overtones have been performed for the linearchain mixed-valence platinum complex [Pt(en)*] [Pt(en)zBr,]Br, It is found that the Pt'"-Br bond length increases by 0.075 A in the intervalence state. A satisfactory fit to the excitation profiles requires the inclusion of a second excited state at 16500 cm-'. which we have assigned to Br+Pt'"charge transfer.

The resonance Raman spectrum of [ Pt (en) 2] [ Pt ( en) 2BrZ] ( ClO,) ., (en = H2NCHZCH2NHZ) has been studied as a function of temperature and excitation wavelength. Six features are observed for the symmetric Pt-Br stretch. v,, at low temperature and each shows a distinctly different excitation pro
