We report muon spin rotation/relaxation (~SR) measurements of the heavy fermion superconductor UPt 3. We observe the appearance of a spontaneous internal magnetic field at T = 475 inK, which is about 80 mK below T c. This transition likely corresponds to the lower superconducting transition observed

✍ A. de Visser; N.H. van Dijk; J.J.M. Franse; L. Taillefer 📂 Article 📅 1994 🏛 Elsevier Science 🌐 English ⚖ 148 KB

The superconducting phase diagram of heavy-fermion UPt 3 has been investigated by means of sensitive dilatometry. The thermodynamic analysis indicates that all the phase lines are of second order. Ehrenfest relations reveal that the C phase is the stable phase under uniaxial pressure (p II e).

✍ S.R. Julian; P.A.A. Teunissen; S.A.J. Wiegers 📂 Article 📅 1992 🏛 Elsevier Science 🌐 English ⚖ 390 KB

Quantum oscillations of the transverse magnetoresistance have been observed in the heavy fermion metal UPt, in fields up to 24.5 T applied in the basal plane, providing the first observation of the quasiparticle Fermi surface above the metamagnetic transition. The observed quasiparticle masses remai

The electronic instability in the highly correlated electron system UPt 3 gives rise to various intriguing phenomena at liquid-helium temperatures, among which the occurrence of unconventional superconductivity (T + = 0.49 K, T c = 0.44 K) has attracted most attention. In a magnetic field three supe
