✦ Synopsis
Bands of the A 3IIo-X 1~+ and B 3II1-X 1~+ transitions of the 69GaI and 71GaI molecules, lying in the range 370-420 nm, have been excited in a hollow cathode discharge and analyzed. Six bands of the A-X system have been analyzed rotationally and the rotational constants of the A 3I-I 0 state determined. Former band measurements and vibrational assignments have been revised and extended. Vibrational constants of the A0 +, B1 and X0 + states of the 69GaI molecule have been determined using band origins and for the excited states these constants are an improvement on previous results. Franck-Condon factors for the A-X and B-X bands have been calculated using the molecular constants obtained.
