✦ Synopsis

A partial difference equation governing the deflection of a uniform diagrid loaded at the nodes is derived using the slope deflection equations for two orthogonally intersecting beams. Closed-form solution of the Navier type is obtained for the simply supported ease. The above formulation is extended to free lateral oscillations of simply supported diagrids treating the masses lumped at the nodes. Numerical illustration along with experimental data corroborating the theoretical predictions with regard to nodal deflections are also given. Extension of the results to certain triangular grid works is indicated.
