The molecular basis of how rodent nongenotoxic hepatocarcinogens such as phenobarbitone cause liver-tumor formation is poorly understood. An early effect of phenobarbitone exposure is to induce hepatocyte proliferation transiently, and there is evidence that this may be important for subsequent tumo
