✦ Synopsis

A tri-linear softening model for pile-soil interaction along the shaft and a tri-linear fully plastic model for pile-soil interaction at the base are proposed in this paper. Using soil mechanics and elastic theory, equations for the axial load-settlement curve of a pile in layered soils are established. Based on the soil parameters measured through the pile-soil friction test and deep-hole test in a local area, computational results from the proposed method are presented and compared to those of the pile tests. It is shown that the calculated results are close to those from the test, thus verifying the reliability of the proposed method.

This paper presents a method of analysis for piled raft systems constructed in layered soils. The method presented takes account of the interactions of the raft, piles and soil without the cost of a full threedimensional rigorous analysis. This is done by the use of finite layer methods for the anal
