โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
A major difficulty in assessing bioremediation in hydrocarbon impacted field sites is the determination of the extent and products of contaminant biodegradation. Previously, various analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry and chromatography, have been used to characterize components in mixtures resulting from biodegradation. In this work, the applicability of capillary electrophoresis (CE) to this area of research is demonstrated. CE methods were optimized for analysis of compounds that are known metabolites of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) biodegradation.
