The induced damping in a master oscillator contributed by a set of satellite oscillators is obtained in terms of a summation over a discrete distribution of the set. β¦ Synopsis
The recently developed time transformation method [1-3] is extended to the analysis of forced vibration of the strongly non-linear undamped oscillator, ii + u + el(u) = P(t), where f(u) is a non-linear function of the displacement u(t) and e is not necessarily small. Two types of external loading P(t) are considered: a step input and a simple harmonic input. The frequency-amplitude relation is obtained through a slight modification of the results developed in reference for the unforced oscillator. A comparison with the results of numerical and other analytic methods is made. It can be deduced that the time transformation approach offers simple and accurate approximations for the oscillators considered.

In this paper an initial}boundary value problem for the vertical displacement of a weakly non-linear elastic beam with an harmonic excitation in the horizontal direction at the ends of the beam is studied. The initial}boundary value problem can be regarded as a simple model describing oscillations o
An equation for the evolution of conditional moments, analogous to the Fokker-Planck equation for the probability density, is used to develop a Taylor series expansion for the correlation function of a non-linear oscillator driven by white noise. The first few coefficients in this series are calcula
