## Abstract Single crystals of stannic iodide (SnI~4~) havebeen grown using the controlled reaction between SnCl~2~ and KI by diffusion process in silica gel medium. Orange to reddish octahedral stannic iodide crystals up to 3โ€“4 mm in size have been grown at room temperature. Optical studies have b
