โฆ Synopsis
Matract-Two sets of displacement functions have been proposed, and the boundary collocation method is used to calculate the stress intensity factors (SIFs) of an edgecracked body with linite dimensions subjected to a longitudinal shear. For the case of a beam whose cross-section is rectangular and symmetric about the crack, the present results agree very well with those in Westmann and Yang [J. appl. Me& 53, 693-701 (196711 by using the integral equation method. Furthermore, the method can be used in general cases with arbitrary loading and geometrical cases. As an example, the results of a slant crack are given by the present method.
