✦ Synopsis
The spin-rotation constants, ym for the ~~0-2 levels of AlO( X 2Z+) were analyzed in terms of the X 'C+ -A 'ni and X 2C+ u C 'IT, second-order interactions. The X 2C+ _ A 21Tr spin-orbit and rotational-electronic interactions were determined as functions of the internuclear distance R. The anomalous vibrational dependence of yy observed for u= 1 and 2 was ascribed to the strong R dependence of the X *Z+ N A 2TIi spin-orbit interaction; the contributions of the X 2Z+ _ C 'lIr interactions were found to be nearly independent of v. The R dependence of the X 22+ _ A 21Ti spin-orbit interaction was fully explained by the change in the electronic structure, A12+0 2-+Al+O-, of X 2Z+.
