✦ Synopsis

An analytical method for a new calcium channel blocking agent, amlodipine, has been developed using high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection. No compound modification is required for detection and the calibration curve in spiked sera is linear and reproducible over the range 0.2-2.0 ng ml-'. The method has been applied successfully to pharmacokinetics studies in rats and also can be used for other dihydropyridine compounds such as nifedipine and nicardipine.
