Abstract
Characteristics of a nonconfocal suspended strip in an elliptical cylinder are analyzed. The formulas for characteristic impedances are obtained by using conformal mapping. The results calculated by the formulas are presented for a comparison with other authors' works. The dimensions for a specific characteristic impedance and the charge distribution on the strip conductor of these structures can be determined.โยฉ 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Plates with rectangular openings develop stress concentrations under bending. While these stresses can be determined using finite elements, in many problems this would be difficult because a high density mesh would be needed in the neighborhood of every opening corner.
