Time evolution of the 'Fd, 'S2 -+ s 18 fh~orescence of HoB-doped zinc telhrrite glasses was studied from 37 10 3fJO K. The time needed to achieve equilibrium between *r;4 and 'Sz states is 0.6 ps. Multiphonon reJ;lxstion from 'F+, sSz and SFs levels of Ho3+ in zinc t&&e was studied. Two ?ypcs of phonons were found to be effective. ft is expected that of low temperature (37 K), laser emission, mainly from the 5Sz Ievef, will be obtained witho cross seetion of 2.78 X 1@O cm'. Yet at room temperature laser emission from 5Fh or 'S2 can be obtained.
