✦ Synopsis
Book Reviews acting, the average value of the integral can be used as a performance measure.
The final Chapters 9 and 10 are on predictive control-first for mismatch problems and then for matched cases.
Finally, exact cost functionals are considered. This book contains a lot of useful information for those who need to deal with time delays in feedback loops. The authors point out many advantages and disadvantages of time delays, for example, that delayed information feedback can be used to stabilize, that time delay systems have an infinite number of characteristic modes, that delays in a feedback loop can be systematically handled, etc. The book is well written, with very few errors. There is, however, a bit of difficulty with the notation. In Chapter 1, e(t) is used for the error signal, while in Chapter 8, E(C) is used (Equation (3.70
