## Abstract In this letter, an improved coupling mechanism using asymmetrical λ/4 interdigital coupled lines is introduced and applied to design dual‐mode pentagon patch resonator filter. This perturbation method is easy to realize without occupying extra space while the patch resonator structure r

Abstract
A kind of cross‐coupled bandpass filter constructed by placing ring‐type dielectric resonators inside the metallic cavities is described in this article. This cross‐coupled filter is designed as a six‐pole quasi‐elliptic function bandpass prototype with two transmission zeros symmetrically below and above passband, respectively. The coupling matrix of this prototype has been calculated and the effect of cross‐coupling coefficient has also been investigated. Practical realization of the filter is discussed in detail and the measured response has good agreement with the analysis. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
