✦ Synopsis
A model based on a new derivation of the equations derived by Amundson and by Bohart and Adams to describe flow in carbon filter beds is presented. A scaling argument is used to explain the discarding of the local time derivative of effluent concentration and it is rigorously shown that the Bohart and Adams model is a special case of the model derived by Amundson. The theoretical results are sunuorted bv exuerimental data for carbon filter beds of different depths under various flow conditions.
