โฆ Synopsis
The paper describes the use of a general-purpose analogue computer for the solution of some two-point boundary value problems in structures. A feature of the technique is the use of an iteration sub-circuit whereby the computer auto, matically establishes the correct' initial conditions 'for the problem. Examples are given of the analysis of multi-storey shear wall structures and of a pile subjected to lateral loading. The method shouM be suitable for other problems of the ' beam on an elastic foundation ' type.

We improve the results obtained by Erbe, Hu, and Wang in a recent paper. We show that there exist at least two positive solutions of two-point boundary value problems under conditions weaker than those used by Erbe, Hu, and Wang.
