S u m m a r y . We report an unusual ossified thoracic disc herniation occurring in a man, aged 69 years. The ruptured disc formed a large mass occupying the entire spinal canal at the T 8 -T9 intervertebral level. Histology confirmed that this was an ossified disc with mature bone tissue. He improved after decompression through a posterolateral approach.

R~sum~. Les auteurs rapportent l'observation d'un patient de 69 ans, prdsentant une hernie dorsale inhabituelle d'un disque ossifi~. La hernie discale constituait une grosse masse, occupant tout le canal rachidien au niveau D 8 -D 9 . L'histologie a con-firm~ l'existence d'un disque ossifi6, fait de tissu osseux mature. L'~tat du malade a ~td am~lior~ it la suite d' une d6compression ant6rieure, par voie postdro-latdrale.
