I n the summer of 1948, while on a Wayne University-Viking Fund Physical Anthropology Field Trip to Mexico, the senior author discovered an unusual anomaly of the superior extremities. The subject was found in the village of Los Conejos, Michohcan, Mexico, during an examination of some individuals reported by the local populace to have two sets of permanent teeth. Ten such individuals, from 11 to 18 years of age, were examined but no supernumerary teeth were found although all the subjects exhibited pronounced crowding of the upper dentition.
