✦ Synopsis

The sedimentation constants and intrinsic viscosities of fractionated PVC (Geon have been determined in tetrahydrofuran at 20 and 25 Β° respectively. A comparison of the molecular weights as evaluated from the above constants is made. The M,, values derived from the intrinsic viscosity are low; the M,~ values evaluated from sedimentation and viscometriΒ’ data are rather high compared with those obtained for the whole polymer. This behaviour indicates the presence of long branched molecules in the polymer.

An exact fractional step or projection method for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is analyzed. The method is applied to both structured and unstructured staggered mesh schemes. There are no splitting errors associated with the method; it satisfies the incompressibility condition t
