โฆ Synopsis
In order to achieve high accuracy during analytical correction whilst using modal test data, a model reduction method is preferred over a modal test data expansion method for solving the spatial co-ordinate incompatibility problem between the analytical model and the test data. This is because it preserves the test data quality. However, a model reduction may jeopardize some of the existing methods that may subsequently be used during the next stage of model correction. In this paper therefore, a new method of model correction, referred to as the Orthogonality Sensitivity Method (OSM), is proposed. Since this method is valid for model correction in conjunction with a model reduction method, no test data expansion is necessary so that any contamination of test data quality can be avoided and therefore the accuracy of subsequent model correction can be ensured. This has been demonstrated by a beam example using modal test data.
