✦ Synopsis

The ionic calcium assay based on the luminescence of the jellyfish protein aequorin was studied.

A rapid mixing device was found to be necessary for good reproducibility.

The accuracy of the procedure described could depend on the association constants of the calcium chelating agents involved in the test solutions.

A synthetic gene for the human motilin receptor containing 33 unique restriction sites was designed and stably coexpressed in HEK293 cells with the bioluminescent Ca 2Ψ‰ indicator protein aequorin. The dosedependent response of the receptor to motilin was demonstrated using transient transfections, a

## Abstract Novel protein‐based nanocomposites were well prepared by __in vivo__ synthesis and co‐precipitation of soy protein isolate (SPI) with calcium carbonate (CaCO~3~) in an aqueous solution. The resultant CaCO~3~ in the nanocomposites was identified as calcite‐ and aragonite‐type, respective
