✦ Synopsis

A discriminant analysis and regression formulae, derived from a modern British population, have been applied to the estimated length and midshaft width of the Boxgrove tibia. The gender was probably, but not certainly, male. The height was probably slightly taller than the average for a modern British male population. The confidence intervals around estimates of the weight, ponderal index, and body mass index are very wide, but the estimates indicate an ectopenic mesomorphic physique of strength rather than an ectomorphic one of mobility. The bone is not unduly robust when compared to modern tibias.
