These instructional materials have been prepared for students who have completed an introductory college-level Laotian course of one year or more or have had an "intensive" course of several months. The "Refresher" materials contained in Book I are intended to prepare the student for the intermediate-advanced materials in Books II and III. Each of these two-part volumes is designed to be used in an aural-oral approach. Book IV, also in two parts, contains a specialized military corpus. Linguistically oriented, the material presented in Book I (Part One), which deals with the sound system and phonology drills, appears in phonemic transcription as well as in Lao script. Other materials are presented in Lao script only.
