✦ Synopsis

This article presents results of an interconnect configuration between a microstripline and a rectangular wa¨eguide. Electromagnetic coupling takes place through a slot in the narrow wall of the rectangular wa¨eguide, which coincides with a slot in the ground plane of the dielectric slab. Introduction of an E-plane wa¨eguide fin yields additional control o¨er the insertion loss le¨el.

has been achieved. Slight discrepancies are due to mechanical tolerances of the fabricate prototype, which was built using mechanical etching [6]. The total dimension of the filter is 35.0 mm, corresponding to 50% of the size of a conventional E-plane filter with same specifications. The upper 3-dB
