I t is found t h a t t h e composition of t h e s u l f i d e d c a t a l y s t is i n f l u e n c e d by t h e s u l f id a t i o n method a p p l i e d . A c o r r e l a t i o n between t h e s p e c t r a l c o n t r i b u t i o n of a mixed Fe-Mo o u l f i d e (Fe-Mo-S) phase and t h e a c t i v i t y f o r thiophene HDS is demonstrated.
