✦ Synopsis
An Improved
Method for the Detection of Anionic Polymorphic Proteins in Human Saliva on Polyacrylamide Slab Gels
In order to resolve and further evaluate the DMB-stainable banding patterns of certain of the genetically controlled salivary proteins, Pa (1,2), Pr (3), Db (4), and "X" (4) an electrophoretic technique has been devised. The ultimate purpose of this study was to enhance the recognition of other protein variants found in saliva samples. Comparison of several genetic Pr phenotypes was carried out in gels by varying the pH and polyacrylamide concentration. We noted other DMB-stainable salivary protein bands previously recognized by Azen (4) which were possibly germane to the established Pr polymorphic classification.
