โฆ Synopsis
By means of immunoelectrophoretic analysis, the antigenic spectrum of proteins in pig and cattle hemolysate was studied. Based on the immunological similarity of the electrophoretic variants of one and the same poIymorphic system, two polymorphic systems were established in pig hemolysates, designated preliminarily as Ph-A and Ph-B systems. In cattle hemolysates, two polymorphic systems were found: Ch-B and Ch-C systems. The proteins of the Ph-B and Ch-B systems seem to be isozymes of an erythrocyte ca taIase and give an immunological cross-reaction. The hereditary nature of the established polymorphism was confirmed by genetic analysis of the Ph-B system. Based on this, the suggestion is advanced that erythrocyte catalase in pigs is controlled by at least two codominant alleles at the Ph-B locus.
