β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The serum of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus may contain antibodies reacting in a variety of ways against several intracellular antigens. This report describes a new method of analyzing these antigenβantibody reactions by immunoelectrophoresis on cellulose acetate membranes. The results show that abnormal sera may contain at least two different precipitating antibodies, one directed against a deoxyβribonucleohistone complex, and the other directed against an antigen that may be histone not attached to DNA.
