Abstract
We study extremal charged black hole solutions in two dimensional type 0A string theory using the low energy effective gravity theory, and then attempt to identify them in the exact matrix model description of the theory. In particular, we identify a static Fermi sea configuration of matrix eigenvalues corresponding to a charged black hole, and derive some asymptotic properties of the black hole spaceβtime from the matrix model. We argue that the horizon of the black hole is replaced by the endpoint of th e Fermi surface.
