✦ Synopsis

An extension to the model by Mardia and Sutton (1978) for describing a more general type of circular-linear association, C-association, is proposed. Estimation techniques to optimize the parameter estimates for a data set and a likelihood ratio test to determine if the new model provides a significantly better fit over the C-linear association model are discussed. Two numerical examples are given to motivate and illustrate the methods.
