Liapunov-collocation technique is proposed for the analysis of regions of asymptotic stability (RAS) in distributed parameter systems whose unsteady state behavior is described by a system of parabolic partial differential equations. First, the collocation method is used to reduce the partial differ

β¦ Synopsis
Earlier results on stability conditions for a well stirred flow reactor are generalized by using a result of K~~ovsxrr's to explore the nature of several Liapunov functions. The region of proved asymptotic stability is greatly extended in this manner. The conservative nature of this analysis is shown by comparing the suftkient condition for local stability developed by this analysis with the criteria arising from a linearized treatment. Several numerical examples are included.
