The aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of paste composition and paste volume on the fresh and hardened properties of Self-Compacting Concrete. Nineteen SCC mixtures were investigated for different paste composition and paste volume. Fresh concrete tests such as slump flow, J ring, and

β¦ Synopsis
Numerous investigations have been conducted on self-compacting concrete (SCC) and lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC), but there are relatively very few studies on self-compacting lightweight concrete (SCLC). This paper deals mainly with the mix proportion design for SCLC and its workability. By considering the water absorption of lightweight aggregate (LWA), two mix proportions for SCLC are designed by the overall calculation method with fixed fine and coarse aggregate contents. The workability of the two types of fresh SCLCs is quantitatively evaluated by the slump flow, V-funnel, Lbox, U-box, wet sieve segregation, and surface settlement tests. The uniformity of distribution of LWAs along the specimen is also evaluated by the column segregation test and the cross-section images. Based on the experimental results, a detailed analysis is conducted. It is found that the two types of fresh SCLCs have good fluidity, deformability, filling ability, uniform aggregate distribution and minimum resistance to segregation. It can be concluded that the two mix proportions for SCLC presented in this paper satisfy various requirements for workability and can be used for the design of practical concrete structures.

In this work, the effect of fine additives (limestone, silica fume, fly ash, pozzolan, nano-silica fume) on the plastic viscosity of cement paste is being investigated. Towards this direction, twenty-four samples were designed and produced. Those pastes consisted mainly of cement (type CEM I 42.5) a
The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the cutting mechanisms of polycrystalline diamond compacts (PDC) using two different lasers: (a) a near infrared Nd:YAG laser (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) of 1064 nm wavelength and 100 s pulse width; and (b) a green light KTP

The Taiwanese production of TFTβLCD front-panels comprises a global share of 43%, the highest production rate in the world. Inevitably, a large amount of waste is produced in the fabrication process. How to deal with waste LCD glass is an important work. In this study, the water-to-binder ratios wer
