✦ Synopsis

Flow pattems in the reservoir of a capillary rheometer have been measured for several different polymer fluids including low density and high density polyethylene, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polypropylene, nylon 66, polybutadiene and a polyisobutylene solution. Measurements have also been made on glycerine. The experimental results are interpreted in terms of the theory of viscoelastic fluids and the dependence of the flow pattems upon the Weissenberg number is considered.
