✦ Synopsis


A double-charge-transfer spectroscopy study of hydrogen sulphide has been carried out, and six double-ionization energies to various electronic states of H2 $2Γ· measured. Because of the conservation of spin multiplicity in the double-charge-transfer reactions which are central to this type of spectroscopy, and the use of OH + as the projectile ion, triplet states of H2S 2+ were populated. This was confirmed by the good agreement between the measured double-ionization energies and published calculated values for transitions to triplet states of H2S 2+.
