✦ Synopsis

A model of flame propagation based on the concept of stationary flames is employed to investigate the transitional phenomenon in spray deflagration. A quasi-linearization shooting technique, together with a normalization procedure, is used to solve the fully coupled equations governing the condensed and gaseous phase in the transitional regime. The calculated values are in good agreement with the experimental data.

A spray dryer simulation program is described. It is based on the known conservation laws and permits determination of temperature and moisture profiles and droplet trajectories inside spray dryers. An industrial spray dryer used in the manufacture of detergents serves as an example to demonstrate t
