✦ Synopsis
The polarisation impedance at the interface between a bio-electrode and the electrode-jelly on the surface of a living body is non-linearly related with d.c. and a.c. current density and excitation frequency etc. Since the bio-signal has both d.c. and a.c. components, so the conventional methods of measurement of the polarisation impedance with either d.c. or a.c. signal appears to deviate from exploring its actual nonlinear nature. In the present paper a modified bridge technique has been proposed to study the actual characteristic of the polarization impedance under first order linear approximation using superimposed d.c. and a.c. signal. Some results of experimental study of the effect of excitation frequency on the polarization impedance with the help of this modified technique are reported in the paper. From these results an empirical relation between the polarization impedance and excitation frequency has been observed.
