โœฆ Synopsis

An elastodynamic, closed form, exact solution of the plane stress state problems of layered structures is presented. The solution has been derived by applying semi-inverse techniques and the method of superposition, within the linear theory of elastodynamics. As an example, the vibration problem of a layered cantilever beam with base excitation is considered. Several numerical results are given for a two-layer cantilever beam consisting of isotropic layers. It is also shown that the final form of the eigenvalue problem for the beam is a set of three coupled transcendental equations.
