✦ Synopsis

It is shown that, when the traditional assumptions of thin plate theory are taken as exact mathematical hypotheses, the desired field and boundary equations can be obtained by mere integration over the thickness of the corresponding equations for a three-dimensional cylindrical body made of a homogeneous, linearly elastic transversely isotropic, constrained material, yet avoiding some inconsistencies usually to be found in textbooks of structural mechanics.
