Abstract
The boundary conditions on the exposed face of a dielectric mirror are shown to be effectively the same as those for perfect electric conductors, whereas the boundary conditions on the exposed face of a chiral mirror are very different from those for either perfect electric conductors or perfect magnetic conductors. Cavities between two chiral mirrors have a relatively uniform field distribution, which is significant for spectralβhole filters and coherent light generation. Β© 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
