✦ Synopsis
A new spectrophotometric method has been developed for the quantitative determination of L-arabinose, using the NAD-dependent P-D-galactose dehydrogenase from Pseudomonasfluorescens.
This method has been applied to the determination of L-arabinose produced after degradation of L-arabino-D-xylan by (Y-L-arabinofuranosidase from Aspergillus fumigatus, and provides the basis of a sensitive, accurate, and specific method for assay of this enzyme which is technically straightforward to perform.
