✦ Synopsis
A mobile probe arrangement has been developed which uses the Iocalisod DCPD method of crack measurement. This mobile probe army produces more detailed measurements of crack from profdes than those generally ob~ning using fixed probe techniques, in addition, an improved incalised DCPD probe configuration has been developed which yields a significant increase in sensitivity to cracks of less than five millimeu~ in depth than that obtainable from traditional probe arrangements. These refinements to the IY2PD method of crack mensuremant have been developed as part of a study of fatigue crack coalescence and propagation. This paper describes the development of the revised crack measuring technique and ;he improved DCPD probe army for detecting shallow cracks. An evaluation of these modifications is also presented based on results of fatigue testing.
