โœฆ Synopsis

An empirical model with a hybrid statistical-deterministic distribution designed for the assessment of daily (\mathrm{SO}{2}) concentrations in an urban environment has been developed and tested on the network of stations monitoring atmospheric (\mathrm{SO}{2}) in the Brussels Capital Region. This model makes it possible to determine the relative degrees of responsibility for (\mathrm{SO}_{2}) air pollution of the three main areas of human activity - indoor heating, motor vehicle traffic and industry - associated with the consumption of fossil energy. The model uses three types of variables-economic, meteorological and environmentalavailable or assessable for an urban area and has been applied to the 1981-1990 period.

An empirical model has been proposed to describe the kinetic aspect of the gelation process of a concentrated latex mixture in the presence of nonadsorbing polymer chains. It was found to allow the identification of two predominant effects, a viscosity effect and an excluded volume one effect that b
