Abstract

An electrophoretic technique for the rapid screening of fibronectin from plasma and serum is described. This technique was used to screen nearly 3000 human plasma and serum samples from different racial groups as well as plasma samples from dogs, cats, pigs, goats, mice, donkeys, sheep, horses, camels, cattle and Highland ponies for genetic variants. Only one possible genetic variant, from an Indonesian population, was detected. Other potential uses of the electrophoretic technique are discussed.
