β¦ Synopsis
An elastic analys& is presented for walls supported by simple beams with or without an overhang. The wall is idealised into a set of equispaced vertical stringers, which carry direct load, with shear carrying panels between them. Any distribution of vertical superload can be considered and the effect of the wall self-weight may be included. A series of cases is analysed and the results are compared with those predicted by other methods.
Experimental work carried out at the Building Research Station is reported by Wood[l] who describes the form of "arching" action that occurs.
