A series of 5โaryl substituted 2โaminoโ5,8โdihydropyrido[2,3โd]pyrimidinโ4,7โdiones were synthesized through oneโpot condensation of 2,6โdiaminopyrimidinโ4โone, aldehyde and Meldrum's acid using glycol as energy transfer agent under microwave irradiation without catalyst. The oneโpot protocol in the absence of catalyst has the advantage of good yield (86โ95%), short route and reaction time (3โ6 min) and environmentally friendly.
