A series of 5โ€aryl substituted 2โ€aminoโ€5,8โ€dihydropyrido[2,3โ€d]pyrimidinโ€4,7โ€diones were synthesized through oneโ€pot condensation of 2,6โ€diaminopyrimidinโ€4โ€one, aldehyde and Meldrum's acid using glycol as energy transfer agent under microwave irradiation without catalyst. The oneโ€pot protocol in the absence of catalyst has the advantage of good yield (86โ€95%), short route and reaction time (3โ€6 min) and environmentally friendly.
