β¦ Synopsis
Reaction of phosphinamidcs and sulphonamidcs with aromatic aldehydes at Ooc in the prescncc of titanium tctrachloride and triethylamine provides a simple one-step preparation of N-phosphinoyl and N-ulphonyl imines. N-Phosphinoylimines (l), first prepared ten years ago by Krzyzanowska and Stec,I have recently been the subject of interest as they are synthetic precursors of N-phosphinoyloxaziridines (2).2 The latter compounds are closely related to N-sulphonyloxaziridines (3) which are arousing considerable attention in view of their potential as neutral chiral oxidants.3 Additionally,
N-phosphinoylimines can also be converted, stereoselectively if required, to primary amines.
